Carolyn’s story was featured as the opening segment of the 2011 campaign for TAADV, and nominated for an Emmy. To see each of the prime time specials at ABC Action News: CLICK HERE

At the heart of the campaign is the statewide domestic violence hotline: 1-800-500-1119. It is operated by the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence in Tallahassee. The hotline serves as a lifeline to victims – automatically connecting callers to the shelter nearest them. There’s no wait, no dropped calls, no hassle. With 12 certified domestic violence centers in Tampa Bay, victims can easily link to the shelter nearest them with just one number: 1-800-500-1119.

Since the inaugural campaign of Taking Action Against Domestic Violence in 2009, the hotline has seen a 77% increase in calls.
